Been watching the thunderstorms and wind blow the last few days, but after tomorrow it looks like we will get a little stretch of pretty weather. We have a walk on group for Thursday. As of now we have two guys that are locked in, looking for two more at $500 a person. That includes the mates tip. If I get more than 2 people the price will be split equally between all persons. Call or text me at 757-870-1680! Bottom fish, mahi, and blackfin tuna are the targets! Sea Angel Sportfishing Charters.

Wow, did we get lucky on this trip! We were looking to site cast some red drum on a very cloudy day, which is almost impossible, and the fish popped up right in front of our boat. They came right to us and went under and around the boat! All 4 anglers, Herb Hand, his son, Herb Jr , Logan, and Dantrell cast into the school and hooked up pretty much immediately. It was a scramble, getting the fish into the boat and getting a photograph quickly so the fish could be released. They were able to swim away with no effort. The group did great fighting and handling the fish afterwards. It was definitely a fun and exciting experience for everyone involved! Speck-Tackler Light Tackle Charters.

Well, it finally happened again for us this season. After getting some fresh bait from captain (Motor Boat Operator) "Reel Swirly", who owns that ice cream shop in Buxton village across from Angelo's, we were able to hook and land this nice Cobia after an hour and a 1/2 of waiting for a bite. Bait fishing for Cobia takes a lot of patients and a lot of positive thinking and it paid off for us. I think Chris, Ryan, and Kyle wish they had been a little closer to the rod that the Cobia bit, but for some reason Greg had the golden horseshoe on this day. We put that big fish in a dip net, and he still had a lot of spunk when it hit the deck, so I had to calm him down a little bit with the club.. We picked up a few Bluefish and a nice Spanish Mackerel. The boys even gave me a piece of Cobia meat for Donna and myself to enjoy for the 1st time this year. Speck-Tackler Light Tackle Charters.
6/27/2026 Sea Dream Sportfishing
We’ve been slacking on the posts lately. Between weather and slow fishing, there hasn’t been much excitement to post. Today, we had a great group of long time friends with us today! We started the day on the blackfin tuna and got all we wanted. We found some grass after that and worked for our few dolphin. We would get a school up and either sharks would scare them off, or the school would be too finicky to eat. We picked at a few for dinner though. Thanks for fishing with us! July is filling up. Get up with us to book before it’s gone! Sea Dream Sportfishing, Hatteras
6/24/2026 Speck-Tackler
I was very glad to be able to get Warren Ideal and his family, Michael, Jen and Rob out for some pretty good red drum fishing. The weather has been making in rough and we are having to work through a lot of wind these days, but have been able to put a decent catch together. Speck-Tackler Light Tackle Charters.
6/22/2026 Stormy Petrel
A special thanks to the Langford clan who has been fishing with us every June for almost 20 years. We had subpar conditions with badly scattered grass and heavy current, but we stuck with it and caught some blackfin tuna and skipjack tuna. Important news, Stormy Petrel is moving to the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center at the first of July for the rest of this immediate season. Stormy Petrel Charters.
6/21/2026 Longer Days Sportfishing
We found some fish in the deep first thing and got a couple dozen mahi before they left us. We covered a lot of water in the deep before coming back shallower and caught a wahoo and a nice molphin inside the 100 ft. line. Then we jigged a couple amberjack to finish the day and headed home. Longer Days Sportfishing Charters.
6/21/2026 Speck-Tackler Light Tackle
It's a lot of fun when you get anglers who are so excited to catch fish and have the fishing skills to get the job done! It's been a few years since I've taken James Lynch, Chip and his son Barrett fishing. We're still catching a few Pamlico Sound bluefish however they've gotten a little bit smaller, but in my opinion, this size is a lot better to eat. I also had one of the first Stone Crabs of the season. I'm always amazed how thick their shell is. Luckily, they move very slow because if one pinched you on the finger, you probably lose some of it. Speck-Tackler Light Tackle Charters.
6/20/2026 Sea Dream Sportfishing
There was a lot of grass again today, but it wasn’t formed up nicely. We spent some time looking for the dolphins, but they just weren’t to be found today. Made it to the tuna grounds, and it was all you could want. Eventually, the scattered grass pushed over that area as well, and we spend some more time looking for them. We did raise a sailfish, but it wouldn’t commit to a bait. Looks like a little change in wind direction in the next few days, so hopefully it’ll line this grass up better for us. Sea Dream Sportfishing, Hatteras
6/21/2026 Sea Angel Sportfishing
Fishing was a little tough today, but we scrapped out enough for a meal or two! Thank you Jack, Lois, and Marshall for fishing with us today, we had a blast! Sea Angel Sportfishing Charters.
6/16/2026 Sea Angel Sportfishing
Let me catch y’all up on what’s been coming across our stern! Dolphin fishing has been great, along with some billfish action! Half day Spanish mackerel and bluefish fishing has also been consistent. We have days in July still open, give us a call to book a trip of a life time! 757-870-1680 Sea Angel Sportfishing Charters.
6/16/2026 Sea Dream Sportfishing
Grass, grass, and more grass today. It was scattered all over the ocean today, which makes for tougher fishing. We picked at dolphin and blackfin tuna through the day and made a good catch, with a few gaffers in the mix! Sea Dream Sportfishing, Hatteras
6/16/2026 Speck Tackler Light Tackle
It sure made me feel good when Kodi and Alisha McCall from West Virginia, said it was the best catch they've ever had on a charter, including the ones they've done down in Florida. We ended up with a good catch of Bluefish and our limit of Puppy Drum. Fishing has been tough the last couple weeks, so I was glad we were able to put a catch together. Btw... Kodi is the spitting image of a guy who lives here on the island. Speck-Tackler Light Tackle Charters.
6/16/2026 Longer Days Sportfishing
It was a slow pick through a bunch of scattered grass, but the guys held in with us and we battled through it, one fish at a time most of the day. Went deep looking for a possible Billfish and caught more Dolphin. Came back inshore and caught a White Marlin. Fate sometimes has a better plan than me. While fighting the White a thunderstorm moved over top of us that delivered a white out lightning strike beside us and a huge waterspout that hit the water a ways in front of us. That was Mother Nature’s way of saying we had caught enough fish for the day. I took her warning and headed home. Longer Days Sportfishing Charters.
6/13/2026 Speck Tackler Light Tackle
Jack Herbert brought his friends Ted Rich and John along for their third fishing trip of the week, and we did really get on Puppy Drum and a few Bluefish. A few of the fish were too big to keep and had to be released, but we caught our fair share of smaller keeper sized Pups. Speck-Tackler Light Tackle Charters.
6/14/2026 Sea Angel Sportfishing
Capt. Derek said the fishing has been hot. Sea Angel Sportfishing Charters.
6/10/2026 Longer Days Sportfishing
Capt. Tom reported that yesterday's weather was really nice and the mahi were all over the place. Longer Days Sportfishing Charters.
6/9/2026 Sea Dream Sportfishing
Our group yesterday was able to get this picture of the sailfish mid jump. Pretty cool! We have 4 days left open in June (15, 17, 21, 29). They won’t last too much longer! Get up with us to book. Still have a little availability in July and August as well, including just a few weekend dates. Sea Dream Sportfishing, Hatteras
6/8/2026 Drumrunner (Ocracoke Island)
Little known secret at Ocracoke NC, Capt. Ernie's Gecko (offshore) and Drumrunner (inshore) are able to run awesome charters most every day despite weather issues that can keep other charter boats at the docks. Currently Drumrunner is still tracking down giant schools of red drum for their angler clients. If you get canceled on your vacation charter, one of these Drumrunner trips can save the day and your vacation. Gecko Sportfishing, Ocracoke Island
6/2/2026 Stormy Petrel
Capt. Patteson reported he has been mostly running birding trips for the last three weeks but yesterday he had a 6 hour wreck trip. A bit breezy with some cross chop on a NE swell but Jeff and his family did a great job angling some hefty amberjacks. We released several and kept a few for the table. Also picked up a Cobia off the bottom. No groupers this day, but we often get them too. We have just a few days open in June, which is a great month off Hatteras. Stormy Petrel Charters.
6/1/2026 Sea Dream Sportfishing
Where we ended up fishing it was scattered grass and wind blown streaks of sargasum. It made it tough fishing for us, but we scrapped out a catch of gaffers and even a nice wahoo. Looks like the coming weather will have us tied up to the dock for a while now until it settles out. We still have a few open days this month, including a couple weekend days. Call us to book! The Hatteras fishing is already looking very promising for the summer. Sea Dream Sportfishing, Hatteras
6/6/2026 Speck-Tackler Pamlico Action
6/2 Mike King caught a fish of a lifetime when he landed this estimated 60 pound, Big Red Drum on 10 pound test tackle. The fish was almost 50 inches long with a 30 inch girth and a spot formation, looking like a "7" on it's tail. Way to go Mike! The angle of the picture does not show the true girth of this magnificent fish.
6/3 Jace and his best friend Mari, from the Western part of Virginia, caught some Bluefish and a few Stingrays. It was fairly slow day of catching, but the boys hung in there and gave it they're all.
6/4 A bunch of us guides took the University of North Carolina Fishing School on their annual inshore fishing trip, and Andrea and her husband Courtney, along with Ray Moore, fished with me. It was another windy day in Hatteras, but we were able to catch a few fish.
6/6 We had a really fun day when Jason took his fishing buddies Jackson and Zander fishing with me for the second time. Last year, we were able to cast for Spanish Mackerel in the ocean, but this year we stayed back in the shallows and did real good on Bluefish and a few keeper Puppy Drum.
5/26/2026 Gecko Sportfishing
Gecko reported a great day fishing close up near shore catching a nice bunch of Spanish mackerel. Gecko Sportfishing, Ocracoke Island
5/30/2026 Speck-Tackler Light Tackle
Capt. Rick said the pictures do not do justice for the how big a 46 inch Red Drum that Chris Trilo caught on a 10 pound test rod really is. Chris and his son Patrick, caught a few really nice bluefish to boot. Speck-Tackler Light Tackle Charters.
5/31/2026 Longer Days (week's catch in review)
May is typically our angler's best opportunity to catch some really large mahi mixed in with some tuna and wahoo. Fishing has been exceptional whenever our Hatteras boats have been able to run. Going into June the big mahi are still going to be around for a few weeks as well as plenty of schools to stock up your freezers. Get down here asap and enjoy some awesome fishing on one of the most reliable producing boats here. Longer Days Sportfishing Charters.
5/31/2026 Sea Dream (week's catch in review)
As you can see from our pictures we have been having some great catches of mahi including a few NC Citation size fish. Our anglers also released a blue marlin and we were able to catch some wahoo and blackfin tuna. Sea Dream Sportfishing, Hatteras
5/17/2026 Speck Tackler Light Tackle
Another good day with Susan and Alan Updike. We had a mixed bag of sheepshead, bluefish and red drum. Speck-Tackler Light Tackle Charters.
5/17/2026 Gecko Sportfishing
The HVOO Tournament is over and the charter boats are getting back to normal fishing. May is known as a great time to catch the largest mahi as they aremigrating to the north. It's a great time to stock up the freezer and enjoy the fishing at the same time. This catch wa on Gecko on Sunday. Gecko Sportfishing, Ocracoke Island
5/14/2026 Hatteras Village Offshore Open
Reel Priority is still holding strong to first place with their first day catch of a 487 pound blue marlin in the HVOO. Hatteras Village Offshore Open
5/14/2026 Longer Days Sportfihing
The wives jumped in the picture once back at the dock, but it was Paul and Jeff that got it done all on their own. They had Hunter hopping when we finally found them, but he kept them going until we had a limit. We wore Paul out and he said to go home. It was a slow wet ride all the way in, but there’s going to be some mahi in the freezers in Colorado and Western NC soon with plenty dinners to come.Longer Days Sportfishing.
5/13/2026 Hatteras Village Offshore Open
First Look weighed in a 479 pound blue marlin which was slightly smaller than Reel Priority's 487 pound leader in the HVOO. Hatteras Village Offshore Open
5/13/2026 Stormy Petrel
Spanish Mackerel have arrived in force. We just have a couple of days available this month, but they should still be around in June and we still have several days open then. This is easy fishing close to the beach and we have room for the whole family on our boat Stormy Petrel Charters.
5/13/2026 Sea Dream Sportfishing
Our charter had a one man show today and we gave him quite a workout. Today was was a banner blackfin tuna fishing day out there. Sea Dream Sportfishing
5/13/2026 Speck Tackler Pamlico Sound
Capt.Rick and group had another good day on sheepshead and Susan and Allen Updike plus they hit the right spot for the larger size ones. There wasn't any need for culling, which means throwing back small fish and only keeping the large fish. Fish that live to the age sheephead do might become educated to boat noise and particular areas if too many fish are caught and released. I guess time will tell. Speck-Tackler Light Tackle Charters.
5/10/2026 Sea Dream Sportfishing
We had a pretty day today and the fish were hungry. We had a good catch of blackfin tuna, so sushi and tuna steaks for dinner! We only have a couple days left open in May (14th, 15th, 22nd, 24th, and 25th). June is also filling up, so get up with us to get booked before it’s gone! Sea Dream Sportfishing
5/10/2026 Gecko (Drumrunner)

5/7/2026 Sea Dream Walk-On Trip
Update: JUST A COUPLE SPOTS LEFT
Walk on opportunity: Sea Dream has set Friday May 8th for a walk-on charter for anyone that has been unable to get a full group of 6 together. ($375 per person which includes the mate’s tip.) Some of the largest mahi of the year are caught in May here at Hatteras.
Hatteras Village Offshore Open 5/12 to 5/16
Every year the kick off tournament for the NC Billfish Series is the Hatteras Village Offshore Open (May 12-16, 2026). Proceeds from the tournament support the Hatteras Village Civic Association in their mission to continue providing scholarships to college bound village residents as well as supporting charitable causes within the community. Many local boats are still available to charter for this tournament but even if you don't want to fish just joining in the social events is worth the trip plus you'll get to see some really big fish.
5/4/2026 Gecko Sportfishing
Capt. Ernie wanted me to remind everyone that with the weather finally breaking to the better he has a couple days open next week and is anxious to get folks out there to catch some nice Ocracoke fish offshore. He also said they are available for the Big Rock Ladies Tournament on June 6th and the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament June 8th thru the 13th. Give Capt. Ernie a call 252-921-0095 for the charter fishing experience you'll never forget.
5/4/2026 Sea Dream Sportfishing
Sea Dream reports that it was a pretty day offshore today and although it started slow the fish eventually cooperated in the afternoon. First they had a few nice mahi bites that somehow managed to get unpinned and they had a sailfish follow a lure that wouldn’t commit and dropped off. Eventually the day was saved with blackfin tuna and a wahoo for the dinner table! The Sunday weather looks great right now and Sea Dream reports that day is still open so come on down and enjoy the awesome May bite here at Cape Hatteras.
5/4/2026 Speck-Tackler Light Tackle Charters
Capt. Rick reported it was a windy afternoon trip with Chris Ford and his friends, Ron and Ted from Ohio. They really spent a lot of time trying to find the red drum, but ran all over the area and was always in the wrong places at the wrong times. However the guys did catch some nice bluefish on light tackle.
4/26/2026 Sea Dream Sportfishing
We started out trying to jig up some blackfin tuna, but there was a lot of wind driven current today. So we switched gears and started trolling. Unfortunately it was a slow pick throughout this day. We did find some mahi in the afternoon. We have some days open coming up and the big gaffer mahi are starting to show up and also the tuna bite is still good so let's get out there.
4/26/2026 Speck-Tackler
Another very windy day, however, Tripp, Doug and Mitch from South Carolina brought home a limit of 3 to 5 pound bluefish. Last year, Mitch landed a 58 pound cobia on a 15 pound test puppy drum rod, while we were site fishing on very shallow water in the sound. Capt Rick Scarborough
4/24/2026 Speck-Tackler Pamlico Sound
Second day of the season and it was blowing even harder out of the Southwest. However, we were able to capture some bluefish and our limit of keeper size drum with Brandon Bias and his sons, Sam and Josh. They visit the Outer Banks a couple times a year from the great state of Maine and bring me home made Maple syrup and/or lobsters. Thanks folks for a fun fishing trip. Speck-Tackler Light Tackle Charters.

4/20/2026 Longer Days Sportfishing
This morning Longer Days decided to leave a bit later and stay inside the current which worked out perfectly ending up a pretty day. Fishing was hot and they had a full of tuna fish box by 1pm and had to put the last few blackfin tuna in the ice box. Sometimes you need to lay up to get a prettier shot! They'll be going to the boatyard next week, but they still have this weekend open if anyone wants to get in on this incredible fishing. Visit their online booking calendar and grab Saturday or Sunday.
4/20/2026 Stormy Petrel
Finally back at it down here in Hatteras. We had a group of lifelong friends aboard today for a four hour trip. They wanted to do some bottom fishing, so we spent quite a while at that and caught plenty of bass but not many keepers. Fortunately there were some nice eating size king mackerel right there too. Back inside the bar, it was all the bluefish you wanted, and we stopped when they said they had enough fish.
4/18/2026 Sea Dream Sportfishing
The weather and wind broke and we had an absolutely beautiful day on the Atlantic Ocean. Our party ended up with a few blackfin tuna and a couple of skipjacks tuna!
